Break-even point

Find the whole units needed to cover fixed costs.

Use commas for thousands and a dot for decimals (2,000.50). Your inputs are not submitted.

YOUR RESULT

Enter your inputs and select Calculate.

How it works

Round up: fixed costs ÷ (price − variable cost)

$3,000 ÷ ($50 − $20) = 100 units.

What the result means

Keep the time period consistent. Fixed costs belong to that period; unit price and variable cost belong to one sale. If contribution per unit is not positive, selling more cannot cover fixed costs.

Assumptions & limits

Mathematical estimate using the values entered. Costs or conditions not included in your inputs are excluded. Method reviewed October 18, 2026.

Common questions

Are my inputs saved?

We do not store or submit form inputs. Reloading restores the example values.

Is the result exact?

The display rounds to at most two decimal places; intermediate values retain their precision. Assumptions may differ from your actual situation.
